15 Habits that Will Improve Your Life

Do you want to start implementing healthy habits to improve your life into your daily routine?

Do you want to create your own dream life?

If you raised your hand, then we’re on the same page!

Since May, I’ve been working on my own habits to create a completely different life. I’m not talking about changing everything around me but changing everything inside me.

My daily life used to be just for work and nothing for my body and mind. Now, I’ve added new habits that have changed my life 100%. I’m sure that worrying about your own is the most important part of being alive.

If we want to improve our life, we must start changing how we live our life. So, by implementing some changes into your daily routine, you’ll be able to feel more comfortable and productive during the day, week, month, and even year.

I invite you to check out these fifteen positive habits that will change your life.

Healthy Habits to Improve Your Life

When I say that these are healthy, I mean that these habits won’t force you to do anything that you don’t want. All of them are there to help you on your own personal growth journey. I’ve already implemented some of them, so I promise you, that having habits is the best way to start a big change.

Practice self care

You must be your priority every day. Work on yourself, take care of your skincare, learn new things, or develop new skills. All these little things are healthy habits to improve your life rather than stealing energy from you. Since I started worrying more about myself, I noticed that I grew, and I met myself a lot more, and now I know what I need to do to feel great every day.

These are the habits that I consider the most important ones. Obviously, you can find so many others outside of this article, but I want to recommend the ones that I’ve practiced. Tell me what habits will you start doing. We all want to read you!

Sleep for 7-8 hours each night

Try to have at least 7 hours of sleep every night. If you don’t sleep enough, your body won’t work very well, and it might create or stimulate other bad habits (eating too much, feeling sleepy during working hours, experiencing more stressful situations, etc.).

Wake up early

This habit can be worked along with the first one. Try to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. For example, if you want to wake up at 6 am every morning, then you need to calculate at what time you can go to sleep in order to accomplish 7 hours of sleep.

In my case, I normally go to bed around 10 pm., and fall asleep at 10:30 pm. because I get up at 6 am every morning. So, I might sleep for 7 or 7:30 hours per night.

Do not check your phone right after waking up

Avoid using your phone in the morning or right after waking up. You don’t want to feel stressed checking emails about work or start comparing yourself with others on social media. Those activities will ruin your morning routine and all the good energy that you have.

Avoid using your phone or any other device right before bed

Just like the previous one, using the phone before sleeping is one of the worst habits that you might have. If you do this, you won’t have time to concentrate on your sleep, or on yourself. You will probably ruin your sleep mood and feel more awake.

Read more about topics that you enjoy

Reading is the entrance to the perfect way to change your life. When you read, especially books that teach you things, you gain more knowledge about a topic and, in consequence, more confidence.

I truly enjoy reading books about personal growth, self care, meditation, and how to organize your life. I’m currently reading ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up’ by Marie Kondo. And even when I’m more like a minimalist person, learning about how to tidy up my own house is great for having a clear mind.

Get  rid of clothes that don’t fit you or pieces of clothes that you don’t like anymore

Yes, you need to do it! Probably, you have at least 5 pieces of clothes that you don’t like and 5 pieces of clothes that don’t fit you anymore. That stuff isn’t helpful for you and for your personal growth. They make you feel stuck in the process of getting your life back, right?

You likely feel stressed every time that you see your wardrobe or closet. Doesn’t it?

Just, get rid of all of those pieces of clothes. We don’t need them anymore.

Practice yoga regularly

I did the 100-day yoga challenge and I don’t regret it. It was the most important habit that I implemented in my life lately. It helps with my muscle recovery, and it helps me to feel more relaxed and connected to my own body.

Practice meditation or breathing exercises

Meditation and breathing techniques aim to reduce anxiety and help us to sleep better. When we breathe consciously we are aware of ourselves in the present moment, so having this habit will increase your inner peace.

One of the techniques of breathing that you can do is the 4-7-8 breathing technique which means that you need to breathe for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds.

Have you tried this technique? Try to do it now, here, while reading this article. Practice it every day and then come to tell me if you see some differences.

Plan the entire week in advance

I’m a big fan of planning activities ahead. I love having everything organized whether in my bullet journal or in my Google Calendar.

I’m thinking about the idea of creating printable calendars for you to create your own planning method. When they are ready, I’ll let the link here so you can download them for free.

Clean up and organize as you go

Since I moved into an apartment with my boyfriend, I understood the importance of having a clean and organize home. Whenever I have the opportunity, I try to organize my house.

For example, if I go to the kitchen for a snack, I organize the dishes and mugs  that we used while having our breakfast. This simple activity only takes a couple of minutes and the kitchen looks a lot more organized and clean.

Avoid multitasking

Multitasking is one of the worst things that you should do. Our brain is great, but not enough to, first, be worried about two different things at the same time and, second, perform them correctly and accurately.

That’s why I always try to do one activity at a certain time and then start the following task.

I cannot focus my attention on two different things. That’s the reason why I decided to use two hours of deep and active work in my full-time job and then one hour focused on my projects (YouTube and my website).

Prepare your clothes the night before

If you have your clothes ready to wear the next day, then you’ll have one less activity to do on busy mornings.

I know for sure, that morning might be really busy. In my case, for example, I lose so much time thinking about what I should wear. So, having this activity done the night before is a great relief.

Schedule time to have fun

Not everything is work. We also need free time to have fun or play some video games, watch TV programs, films, YouTube videos, etc.

Everything we do must be balanced. Spend time working, but also spend time for yourself, and your loved ones.

Keep your workspace clean

If we have our work space clean, we can pay more attention to our work because we’ll have fewer things that distract us. I love having my pens, pencils, my notebook, my laptop, and my plants.

Those are the most important things for me, and I know that they have a purpose for me and my concentration. Any other stuff that we have on our desk will disturb our work time, and you might feel even more stressed.

Eat healthy but balanced

Eating healthy meals helps you to:

  • feel concentrated while working.
  • improve your health.
  • feel less uncomfortable with fatty foods.

However, eating healthy doesn’t mean that you cannot eat burgers or French fries. Obviously not. I promise. You can feel great while eating balanced meals: vegetables, carbs, protein, and fruits.

Drink more water

Drinking more water is beneficial for your health because it keeps a normal body temperature; it protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues; it gets rid of wastes through urination… among others. However, it also helps you to be more concentrated because our body works better with water.

Move your body (any movement works)

Moving your body is about anything that you can do outside of your desk (from high-intensity to low-impact workouts, or even a stretch session). Our body needs to stay active to release endorphins and relieve stress.

In the next video, I show you how the 7-day Jump Rope Challenge changed my life.

Practice gratitude

When we are thankful for what we have, we can experience more positive emotions, deal with adversity, improve our health, and build strong relationships. We are the only ones who can help us to appreciate everything that we have, and not worry about what we don’t have.

Consume mindful & educational content

I always recommend consuming content that helps us. We need to read educational or mindful books or watch documentaries that help us to learn more about a specific subject. The type of content should make you feel inspired at some point.

For example, I truly enjoy watching documentaries about decluttering stuff. It makes me feel inspired and creates opportunities for me to be aware of the things that I have.
