5 Things to Do Before You Make a Vision Board
Firstly, let’s talk about the meaning of this. A vision board is one of the most powerful law attraction tools. We can think about our future version, and then create a personalized digital or physical resource.
In order to create the best one for you, you need to make a preparation. In this way, you can be sure that the vision board is exactly for you and your goals.
Reflect on what you’ve already accomplished so far
If you have been working out, you already have some results. Maybe, you don’t notice the progress because not they are not always visible, but at least, we have something. Right?
Think about what has happened in the last months. There are a lot of things that might happen in just a year. So, try to remember the activities and goals you’ve accomplished so far concerning your fitness journey.
Have you tried something new to accomplish a goal that you already have failed?
Have you tried to change your routine?
What has helped you to feel proud of your own journey?
If you know what you did well and wrong in the past, it will help you to create a vision board for your future version. The reason for this is that you’ll know exactly what you need to change to get where you want to be.
What would you do differently to accomplish your goals?
In this section, we need to think about your barriers.
Consider all those situations that don’t allow you to stay motivated to work out at home.
For example:
- Having so much muscle pain that you cannot exercise properly.
- Your current job consumes a lot of time so you don’t have enough free time.
These types of barriers hold us back, right? But what can we do differently daily to change this situation?
For example, if I have so much muscle pain, I’d take a warm bath, I’d ask for a massage from my boyfriend, or I’d try to eat more foods that help with muscle soreness and recovery (such as legumes, watermelon, whole grain bread, seeds, among others).
What would you do differently?
Think about the direction you want to take
When we have a goal in mind, we can create a vision board that actually works for us. Always remember that setting goals means being realistic about your current situation and your past.
When setting your goals, consider:
- Your success and unsuccessful achievements in the past
- Workout routines that make you happy and unhappy
- Barries that hold you back from staying consistent
After checking these three simple but important steps, you can set a goal and create a strategy to select the images and quotes for your own vision board.
Think about the areas you want to improve
One of the best ways to create your own vision board is to define the areas that you want to improve. Try to start small because we want to achieve our objectives, and not feel overwhelmed during this process.
So, if you want to improve so many areas at once, you’ll feel stressed and you’re very likely to quit.
Areas of improvement:
- Back, arms, and biceps

Be clear and honest about your goal
If I say that you should be clear and honest, I mean that you need to be realistic. Set goals that you are a hundred percent sure that you will accomplish in the time you set out.
If you are just starting this journey, don’t say that your goal is to be able to lift 100 kilograms at once. I’m sure you’ll be able to do that, but not at the beginning of this process.
For example, I’m pregnant right now. So, one of my realistic goals would be to stay active three times per week for 25-30 minutes.
I cannot say that I will be working out 5 days per week for 60 minutes each session.
So, think about your current state and situation. Being honest with yourself is the first step.
Your reality and current situation must be the root of your goals.

Do you want to create your own vision board from scratch? In this section, you’ll find the step by step to do it. Please, feel free to write any doubts you might have after this section.
- Decide if you want a physical or a digital vision board: Physical vision boards are great for people who want to see their goals in a specific place in a house. And, digital versions are great for people who use a digital device most of the time; for example, to work.
- Choose the right pictures: Go to Pinterest and do research on the keywords that define your goals. For example, if I want to stay consistent at working out, I would look for “workout set up” or “working out at home“. Then, just try to select the images that inspire you the most.
- Get quotes from the Internet that inspire you: Once again, Pinterest is a great tool to find inspirational quotes.
- Start designing your vision board by pasting the images you selected: If you decided to have a physical version, you should print all your images and write your quotes by hand. And, if you are going to use the digital one, then I suggest using Canva or Photoshop if you want.
- Organize the images and quotes/statements in your vision board: Lastly, but not least, the funniest part of this process is to start placing all the resources we found. Be creative! Remember that this is created for you by you.
A vision board is something that will help you to understand and remember what you want and how you will get there. This is not something that creates negative thoughts and comparisons to other people.
